Bomber Commands heaviest losses

30th March 1944, Bomber Command suffered it’s heaviest loss.
795 aircraft took off throughout the UK destined for Nuremberg.
Not only did Nuremberg have plenty of industrial targets it was also historically symbolic to the Nazi’s with Hitler holding rallies there.
A full moon and a cloudless sky made it very easy for the Luftwaffe;
94 aircraft lost
11 crashed
537 killed
157 Taken POW
11 evaded capture.
