News From RAFFCA…

Last weekend saw the 5th annual RAFFCA Aerobatic Competition, the Tony Ayre Blade, held at the historic RAF Scampton.

The 1st RAFFCA Aerobatics competition was won by Tony Ayre who sadly lost his life in a road accident soon after. Subsequent RAFFCA aerobatic contests have been held in his honour with a beautiful polished metal propeller blade, The Tony Ayre Blade, being awarded to the winner. This year this magnificent trophy was awarded to Simon Makosz who flew G-ODDS, with Simon Abbott as safety pilot

This year, a very high standard of aerobatics was flown, with the winner scoring over 83%! This year’s Royal Air Force Charitable Trust JRPSS scholars looked on while some of the previous years’ scholars took their first steps in aerobatic competition. Well done!
