Things to do while you wait for your Dambusting Loved One Continued…..

Our Dambuster Flight lasts 75 minutes – but you should allow a good couple of hours for the whole experience.

Friends and family who come along to watch the take off and landing often ask if there’s anything to do while they wait.

Some people like to relax in the grassed viewing area; taking in the sights and sounds of Derby Airfield, enjoying a nice cheap cuppa from The Clubroom. There’s also the opportunity to view Amy Johnson’s Comet Racer “Black Magic” which is being restored at Derby.

For people who want to venture away from the airfield, there are lots of wonderful places within easy reach by car. There are some wonderful shops, cafes and things to look at in the nearby villages of Hilton, Willington, Repton, Hatton & Sudbury – not forgetting the lovely village of Tutbury with its gorgeous Castle overlooking the Main Street of shops & cafes.

We have shared lots of information about places of interest further afield, like Dove Dale, Chatsworth, but we thought it was time we provided some information on places local to the Airfield.

We have heard great reviews of The Shed at Hilton, hence its inclusion here. It’s only a 5 minute drive from us so you could even get back in time to watch the Tiger Moth return from the Dams.

Gift Vouchers for our Dambuster Experience are selling fast, they’re available from our website at www.vintageflying.co.uk or call us and leave a message on 01283 585803. The office is not always manned, particularly when we are busy flying, but we will get back to you. Please note we do not leave answerphone messages, this is because a lot of our customers are planning surprises!

We have been working hard behind the scenes, so we can bring you new menus to The Shed next week…

All available to eat in, enjoy alfresco, or takeaway!

Dont forget our proper coffee using 200 degrees beans, roasted in Nottingham.
